[back up your icq contact list]
[restore your list from back up]
[request your password]
[change contacts list background]
how to back up your icq contact list...
NOTE: you will need to remember your icq password as well as your icq number (see how to get your password emailed to you )
AND ALSO: you may want to have a blank disk ready
1.) click on the start button (bottom left of screen)
2.) click on programs
3.) click on windows explorer
at this point a window will pop up with a list of programs to the left
4.) click on the (c:)now to the right you will see "folders"
5.) find and double click on the one named "program files"
6.) click on the "folder" called icq
7.) now right click on the "folder" called 2000a (if your running 2000b it will be called 2000b)
8.) click on copy
9.) now go back to your desk top and click on "my computer"
10.) put the blank disk in your drive
11.) double click on A:
12.) now right click and then click on paste
At this point you should see a "folder" called 2000a (or 2000b depends on what version of icq your running)
13.) take out the disk and label it "back up of icq list" (don't lose it)
now your icq list is backed up!!!!

how to restore backed up your icq contact list...
NOTE: make sure you use your same icq # (account) when you try and restore your list ...
*first off install your icq follow the steps on your screen after you install icq and click on it .and add your account on ,you will have no friends on your list till you do the below steps
1.) click on "my computer"
2.) put you saved disk in drive (back up of icq list)
3.) double click on a:
4.) right click on 2000a (or 2000b depending on what version of icq you have)
5.) then click on copy
6.) click on start button
7.) click on programs
8.) click on windows explorer
at this point a window will pop up with a list of programs to the left
5.) find and double click on the one named "program files"
6.) click on the "folder" called icq
7.) now right click on the "folder" called 2000a (if your running 2000b it will be called 2000b)
8.) now click on delete and delete it
9.) now right click
10.) and click on paste
now when you open icq all your friends names should be back the way you remember them
AND ALSO: now you can take the disk with your contact list on it and load the same way as below on another computer thetas running the same account

how to change the colors on the contact list (back ground,online/offline names and more)
1.) open icq
2.) click on the "icq button" (with the lil cat that trys to bite soemthing that is not there)
3.) then click on "Preferences"
4.) then on the new window that opens click on "Contact List"
5.) look to the right
6.) click on colors
7.) change what ever you like
