What's ICQ?
ICQ ("I Seek You") "a user-friendly Internet program that notifies you which of your friends and associates are online and enables you to contact them" .. that's to say the least. One of few programs to always be in the top 5 downloads of just about everyplace on the net .. but its not hard to see why lets look at some history of icq .....

The first icq was introduced to the net november 17,1996 file was 1.3Mb ( ICQ 1.111 ). its my understanding that in order to be a beta tester you have to have someone go and put your name in and send you the software .. now this version only ran in windows 3.1 and had few features .. its most used at the time was for sending files (large files of any size) .. if fact it was the reason i downloaded it many years ago. (Yahoo, msn, aim limit you to file sizes under 5mb)

The service, created by three 20-something Israelis and some other guy did something else important as well .. from what i heard he was the father of one of the 3 guys. ICQ has always been a beta .. and always had its bugs, icq has never make a cent in revenue, its always been free (under laws you cant sell betas)

Mirabilis was the original name until June 8, 1998, America Online purchased Mirabilis from the developers of ICQ for $287 million in cash. most people will tell you that when Mirabilis owned it it was fine very few bugs .. then aol got there hands on it at first there was rumors of selling it .. and its never been the same since aol started changing it .. but agree or disagree with over 116 million users worldwide and with a user base that had grown faster than any other software application in history among the many features such as messages, email, file transfer, filesharing, sending urls, voice chat, off-line messages, Spell checker, smiles & emotions, Automatic Firewall detection and many more things you can do as well as add-on programs to change the look and feel to just about what ever you want

with icq2001b the one thing that should of been there since day one (Contact List saved on there Servers) no more lost friends ABOUT DAMN TIME!!! as well as smileys but we knew they was on the way seeing how it was the only im program with out them. this makes many of us sleep e-zer at night. also you may see in 2001b that there is no more reminders and no more send message though server option.. that's a shame a damn shame .. i used both of them services and now i am doing with out ... before icq2001b i used icq200a IMHO it was the best since 2000b was junk to me and never worked right for what i wanted it to do.but now i use just about every part of the newest icq and things are fine JUST FINE! apart from the normal problems you get from a beta...... All we can do is wait to see what fun will come with the next version of icq and hope it stays on top of everyone's download lists ..
