to all you doubting souls.. Yahoo has released a page with ALL their hidden smileys
(a first for them) and there is no Ghost! shock horror ;-) LOL :P if you want

Messenger Version 5.0 - New (Hidden) Emoticons] now the pumkin isn't shown
on that page.. why? who knows... maybe it too will RIP once halloween has been
and gone ;-)
I said to someone the other day Yahoo's ghost is going to live longer now it's
dead than it did when it was alive.. and I'm sure it will, despite what we say
here and despite the information Yahoo has posted but for those of you who want
to know what it's all about as we understand it read on...
When Yahoo! released Yahoo Messenger version 5001015 (beta) mid September (01)
they released new smileys.. like they usually do with major version releases and
as per their norm it also came with more of their "secret" smileys..
Yahoo wouldn't be Yahoo if we didn't get the secret ones.. but what they did this
time caused a lot of laughter for so many of us.. and a lot of frustration for
some of you.. here's where we hope to the put the frustration to rest for you....
As I said version 5001015 (beta) came with new smileys.. both standard and secret..
to check out all the smileys from this and the previous versions head over to
our [Smiley's table]
it shows you which smileys came with which Messenger version and whether the smiley
was standard or secret.
In versions 5001015 and 5001018 these were the new smileys... 
 
and the these the secret ones... 
 
 and in the depths of the Smileys
folder was this.. (v.gif) the
ghost! But unlike ALL the other smileys new, old or secret the ghost didn't have
any associated keys and it wasn't written into the actual program. It never worked
and was never going to work like the other smileys unless Yahoo! released an updated
version of messenger with the smiley written into the program... which they never
did.
We posted the information on our site stating the above.. that couldn't be done..
but people persisted and kept persisting... the mail kept coming in "please,
please tell me how to do the the ghost"... we increased the font size
of the notice on the site... the mail kept coming as did the constant stream of
IM's .... we kept repeating the same thing... at this stage it can't be done..

Shortly after 5001018 came 5001029... and with it came a new fully functional
working smiley.. the Pumpkin, but with the birth of the pumpkin came the death
of the ghost. Both Smileys had the same file name.. that being v.gif so when you
installed v5001029 the pumpkin (v.gif) overwrote the ghost (v.gif). The ghost
died.. not that it every really lived in the true sense of it being a smiley..
yes it was there but remember in 5001015 and 5001018 which is where it lived..
albeit briefly, it could never be used like the other smileys as it had no keystrokes
nor was it written into the program.. it just sat there... saying nothing and
doing nothing.. a space filler :-) Now if you're familar with your smiley folder
you would have noticed this change take place.. the screenshots posted on this
page show the ghost located in the smiley folder in v 5001015 and 5001018 (top
left margin pic) and the screenshot in this paragraph shows the pumpkin.. living
quite happily in v5001029.. note the same file name v.gif. So as of version 5001029
the ghost as we all knew it is OFFICALLY DEAD.. GONE! Now whether Yahoo will release
it again but in a working form.. or any form at all for that matter only they
will know.. we aren't Yahoo.. they are :-)
As I put this page up I share with you some of the emails that came in this morning...
yes this morning.. weeks after the information was posted in our Yahoo section
that the ghost could never be used as a standard smiley and a little over a week
after we posted that the Pumpkin had replaced it...
".. I want to know what the ghost is and how do I do it.."
".. I beg of you! please tell me how to do the ghost.."
".. you dont know how to do the ghost do you.. so why don't you say so..
stop lying and be honest."
".. my best friend has the ghost and knows how to do it he just wont tell
me so can you?"
"..if you dont tell me the ghost I'll tell all my friends your web site sucks..."
".. so they killed the ghost SO WHAT! you said that already! I'm not stupid
just tell me what keys I need to use to make it.. "
".. u guys r a pack of W@#$%^&! I hack u F@#$%^& id coz of this...
didnt wana no wot the F@#$%^& ghost woz anywayz... u suck n so dos u guys
