ICQ 4.0 Lite Quick Help (FAQ)


Dont want ICQ to launch at startup?
Main > Preferences and Security > Contact List (under) Options (right hand side)
uncheck the box (under Options) Launch ICQ Lite on startup
Apply > OK

Dont want the Welcome Screen every time you launch ICQ?
Main > Preferences and Security > Contact List > (under) Options (right hand side)
uncheck Show the "Welcome to ICQ Lite" screen
Apply > OK

Don't want ICQ to automatically put ur status as Away or N/A?
Main > Preferences and Security > Status Mode
uncheck Set "Away" status after # minutes of not using the computer
(doing so automatically removes the option from N/A and idle time display)
Apply > OK

using Norton Internet Security (or behind a firewall) and having trouble send files? (eg stuck with"waiting to accept")
Main > Preferences and Security > Connection Settings (button, bottom left of window)
in Connection Settings window > (under) Proxy Settings
check radio button beside Using Firewall
ditto for Not Using Proxy (unless of course you are *g*)
check box beside Keep Connection Alive
OK > Apply > OK
disconnect icq then reconnect

ctrl+enter
