Trillianâ„¢ WebStatus (Indicators)Right off the bat... you have to be running Trillian Pro 3 (or above) to use WebStatus & TrillianStatus2, if you're not a Pro user... read no futher... or consider buying Trillian Pro :) My Trials & Tribulations for server installation... I downloaded the WebStatus plugin (WebStatus.dll ~ available from http://www.sjoerdjob.com/plugins/webstatus/), then headed to TrillianStatus2 and grabbed the complete download package of Trillian Status Version 2.2.2 (29 Oct 05), still on TrillianStatus2 I then trotted across to their Addons page and nabbed some extra templates and graphics packs to play with.... then cornered a coffee and started to work my way through Installation of TrillianStatus.
• first step.. drop WebStatus.dll into my plugins directory (C:\Program Files\Trillian\plugins) • next... creating a database, no problem as my host permits user created ones... so simple pimple :) • unzip my ts2_main download, edit db.inc.php with my newly created database information • create a directory (trillianstatus) on my server, ftp all the files in ts2_main to trillianstatus • chmod /trillianstatus/temp to 777 • load wackyb.co.nz/trillianstatus/install.php in my browser and enter the following... New Installation, Language: English, Username, Password, TrillianStatus mode: Multi received an OK on all aspects of the install.... phew! • removed install.php from the directory • headed to http://www.wackyb.co.nz/trillianstatus/index.php where all looked aok to me next port of call... headed to the admin panel http://www.wackyb.co.nz/trillianstatus/login.php and of course... logged in ;) I messed around with (minimal) TrillianStatus configuration settings, bailing on most of the category settings (needed more coffee *blush*) then I fired up Trillian... I'm using Trillian Pro 3.1 build 121, so to enable the plugin (WebStatus.dll) it was... Trillian > Trillian Preferences > Plugins
Next was the WebStatus connection settings... Trillian > Trillian Preferences > Identities & Connections *insert huge frustrating dork moment* I eventually stumbled across the TrillianStatus2 plugin setup page (don't ask me how I missed it *blush*) and it was all go from there... I entered the information required and.... it worked!
TrillianStatus2, the index & status pages... I immediately shot back to the server admin panel and hit the "Settings for index page" category, hmm... how to change the status graphics *somewhat perplexed* finally worked out that the graphics packs I downloaded (from TrillianStatus 2 ~ Addons page) get dropped into the server directory /trillianstatus/images/, so I upzipped the downloads, then took the main directory folders and uploaded them... eg the download gp_luna.zip when unpacked creates a folder gp_luna inside that folder (gp_luna) is another named luna, it was that folder (luna) that I ftp'd up the server end result being /trillianstatus/images/luna/ I spent a fair amount of time plonking with the index page settings and testing out the different graphics packs, these were now easily selected / changed from the Graphic Pack drop down menu as each of the folders I had ftp'd to the image directory were now listed (eg, nathanhart, luna, jstatus, easymini).
There is heaps to choose from (TrillianStatus 2 ~ Addons) which I imagine would happily cater to all sorts of pages and setups, one thing to keep in mind is that the graphic layout is impacted by the Template selection, eg the Default template lines up the icons left to right, the Trillian template lines them up top to bottom, some graphics packs only suit a certain template so plonk around :) Getting the HTML and BBcode to work if you're adding it to your forum is not the easiest task. Our forum runs ipb and we have dynamic images turned off, along with HTML in certain forum categories... ahh the joys of compatibility ;) I headed to our Plonking Room and started a new thread trillian webstatus test plonk... so that I could save and use the code provided by the TrillianStatus2 admin panel, I've plonked myself stupid and have ultimately decided I'm best to rest my old grey brain cells before continuing down the forum display path.
HTML seems a little easier.....
