We're slowly chugging our way through the drop dead cool "All New Yahoo Messenger" (currently in BETA, version6.0.0.1555) so far we have covered the latest Yahoo Messenger smileys (of course! how could we not *g*) you'll find listed the basic smiley information under Smileys, this gives you the full list of smileys currently available (including the old, the new, the secret / hidden smileys) and their associated keystrokes. If you're after at a loss with regard to what smileys are new, which are hidden / secret and which of the old have been revamped then check out More Smiley Info and if you want to compare the smileys between version 5.6 and 6 then Smileys v5.6 vs v6.0
If you're humming about whether to take the leap to the latest beta version and want to know what may lie ahead for you check out our forum thread WackyB.com ~ Yahoo Messenger (beta) V6,0,0,1555 for details about potential problems you may experience and the opinions of others who are currently using the beta. If you're still undecided check out Download & Install as this will take you step by step through the install process (including screenshots).
The latest beta comes with some pretty funky new features, we've covered Stealth Settings/Mode , Audibles and we've recently added tutorials (and introductions) to using Display Images which includes setting up and creating your own Display Picture or Avatar.
FAQ is currently a little sparse (not enough time or hands *g*) but it's a start, remember you are more than welcome to post any futher questions you may have about the beta version at our WackyB.com Forum, registration (required if you wish to post a message) is a simple process and you wont get spammed once you've signed up.. that's a promise :) If you want to do a bit of research yourself then check out our Links section as it not only covers the basic beta links Yahoo! currently has available, where to go to get your hands on the system requirements (flash, IE etc) it also highlights our own internal links so if in doubt (or a little lost) that's the direction you should be heading in. Now, one of the Links we have there is a "must have" for all beta users as it's the link to Yahoo!'s Beta Feedback form so bookmark it and use of often, don't just sit back and assume Yahoo knows what's wrong with the beta, lend a hand by highlighting the problem your faced with including your system specs etc, remember the more specific information the better, in this case "less is NOT more"
Worthy of a mention... - in previous versions of YIM our status messages were limited to around 48 characters, with the beta you can now make them reeeeeeally loooooooooong - IMV (IMVironment) windows are huge.. dont go thinking you're the only one with this problem :
If you're having trouble downloading / installing the Beta, Yahoo has posted the link to the full download (http://download.yahoo.com/dl/beta/ymsgr6_beta.exe), and no we are not turning that into an active link because you reeeeally need to read ALL the notes contained on Yahoo's download page especially if you follow the install method they have outlined where it specifically states that when using this install method that All archives will be deleted if they are not copied. Back to it.. happy plonking :)
