Yahoo Messenger v7.5 including the latest Smileys / Emoticons Information

24 April 06 saw the production release of Yahoo! Messenger version 7.5.0.811, this officially brought with it the "voice" features that we've all heard so much about which allows users to make cheap PC to Phone calls at reduced rates (http://voice.yahoo.com/) and for phone in calls you can get your very own phone number (http://voice.yahoo.com/phone_number.php) Yahoo!'s "voice" is touted as being stiff competition for Skype.. time will tell :)

Food for thought.. instead of deleting the exe after install, throw it in your My Documents folder just in case you need to reinstall at a later stage, saves you a lot of time if you're a dialup user :)

Smileys...
A nice surprise with the production release was the addition of a new smiley (not released in the beta versions)....

which can be generated using the following key combination :o3 This brings us to a grand total of 88 smileys... far too many to remember *blush* Don't forget that as YIM stores the smileys locally (on your computer C:Program FilesYahoo!MessengerMediaSmileys)  the new smiley will only work if both users are running  v7.5.0.811

Yahoo! has also renamed some of the smiley files...

Another point to note, if you're poking around in your smiley folder C:Program FilesYahoo!MessengerMediaSmileys you'll notice the smileys still come as .gif, and .bmp files (.bmp's are only included if they smileys are feature on the drop down menus) but with this version they have also included .swf (flash) files... seems Yahoo is getting all fancy on us ;)
