Without doubt the New Year is upon me, my appointment diary, eyeballs and ongoing headache tells me this is so ;)
Despite being preoccupied with the festive season there has been a few updates. I purchased Trillian Pro early in December and have been having a good plonk with their smiley selection menu. I'd heard prior to obtaining it that there were some smiley compatibility issues (between Trillian Pro and the other Messenger progs) but I'm pleased to say not nearly as many as the rumours had suggested. Yep, there sure are a few wonky combinations that could cause a little confusion but there is nothing that would cause an argument or offense... least not as far as I could tell :) I've made a hefty start on the comparison tables in our Trillian Pro section but like most things around here it's not yet complete... -> |

December snuck on me with a heck of a bang! I turned the page in my diary and found my "have I done?" list! Yikes! So much to do, never enough time but at least there is a list ;)
This week there have been some updates to our Trillian section with the smiley /emoticons reference tables for ICQ 2003 and MSN v6 (finally) being updated. I'm not sure if it's just me but Trillian seems to have less support for the smileys than before.. perhaps it is just me :) As with previous versions I managed to confuse myself beyond my wildest dreams (nightmares?) so do expect some "errors" with the cross referencing. When I've cleared the overkill of smileys from my brain (I'm currently seeing double and triple.. who needs bourbon!) I'll go back and check what's currently showing. Once again I'm humming about taking the leap to Trillian Pro (it's on the "have I done?" list *cough*), I gave it some serious thought earlier in the year but time and other commitments meant it was put on hold, but with the holiday season looming faster than a rat jumping in a tinny on a hot day, it might be a good time to shell out the registration fee (please don't email me about hacked versions, I prefer to pay for what I use) and see what the "Pro" has to offer over the "free". I doubt I'll use it for it's intended purpose (multi network to save users having to launch all IM programs) but I'm still keen to have a play with it as a new toy is afterall a "new toy" and worthy of a good plonk :)
Anyone using Miranda? I got an email from Joel the other day (sorry Joel, I will email you back asap!) about Miranda and asking why it isn't featured here... umm... what can I say but time is in short supply. I can't recall taking Miranda for a spin around the block before, I may well have but the site doesn't ring a bell so I'm guessing it'll be totally new brain fodder for me.. a good thing :) Strangely enough Dave started a thread (Miranda Im!!!) in our forum about it waaaay back in September but I never rose the challenge, now I'm wondering if I should have? If you're a current (or a past user who has since walked away from it) I'd greatly appreciate your thoughts on it, you can either post to the forum thread Dave started, use our contact form or if you're using the latest Miranda version please add your thoughts the thread Miranda 3.2 Released Last Week which was started by Ænertia.
all that said and done, EOB Bee :) |
