If your requests to add friends are going out and being accepted with your First and Last names showing then don't worry you're not alone. This is becoming a huge issue that is generating reactions to annoyance and frustration right through to deep concern... but it's easily fixed, all you need to do is decide which method, is best for you. Editing your Yahoo! Account Information will fix it once and for all, but it's not ideal, editing your My Contact Details is perhaps the middle of the road option for the majority and there is of course still user by user which is only as effective as you are alert. If you want to check out all 3 options and see what's involved and what changes need to be put in place then check out our article Yahoo! Messenger version 8 Account Information

... is now a walk in the park but only if you're running Yahoo! Messenger version 8. Gone are the days of having download a "hack" which altered our main Yahoo Messenger exe file, these days all that is required is a simple registry edit, and Andy has made it even easier for us by posting a .reg file that does it all for you... no need to wade your way through regedit, just run his file and you're all set to go :)
We've also compiled a list of other handy information and tips which you can check out at Yahoo! Messenger version 8 Issues, Tips & Tricks |

If you're using version 8.0.0.701 of Yahoo! Messenger and you think you've lost your sounds, gone deaf, are bordering on insane or just plain old lost the plot then think again because it's not you... well the insanity bit might be ;) but the sound issue really has nothing to do with you, your ears or your sound card... Yahoo! changed the default sound files so what we once had we no longer do so it's good bye to our much loved Knock and Pow... or is it? check it out in our article Yahoo! Messenger version 8 Default Sounds (.wav files) for more information

I'm always confused about something... ...be it software, be it hardware... or why I don't have a heated coffee cup... but this week I've been confused by Yahoo! Messenger version 8 Plugins. In part this has been due to the number of news articles that have floated across my screen this week, most of them mentioned that Yahoo! Messenger v8 is now out of beta, which it is, and that there are now 180 plugins available at Yahoo! Gallery which should push Yahoo! Messenger up the IM ranks... say what? I don't disagree with Plugins being a huge perk for Yahoo! users and without doubt 180 plugins is a huge achievement for Yahoo!, it's developers and all involved, but um... where are the 180 plugins? the implication in some articles seems to be that there is 180 plugins for using with Yahoo! Messenger... umm.... where? I had to put fingers to keyboard, throw a hefty dose of browser windows across my monitor... thank the gods for tabbed browsing.. and all of this was just so I could try and understand it better... and it worked, I do... sort of... there is 180 Plugins at the Yahoo! Gallery, and there is some seriously cool ones too, but not all of them are for Yahoo! Messenger... if you too are perplexed by the Yahoo! Gallery and how to navigate it then check out my ramblings Yahoo! Messenger v8 Plugins...where? |

and very nicely too :) If you log into your Yahoo! Messenger (v8) you should see a wee link at the top "IM with Windows Live (MSN) Messenger" which takes you to the following statement....
Yahoo! & Microsoft have joined forces
"It's a great day for the world of instant messaging. Working hand-in-hand with our friends at Windows Live (MSN), we've connected our IM communities, making it even easier for you to stay in touch.
From the new Yahoo! Messenger with Voice, you can see when your Windows Live (MSN) Messenger contacts are online and send them instant messages. Keep all your friends in one place and IM with them anytime, right from Yahoo! Messenger. How cool is that?"
if you don't have the latest Yahoo! Messenger BETA you can grab it at http://beta.messenger.yahoo.com/
