messengerFX is a slick web based instant messenger that allows you to connect with your MSN Messenger (and Windows Liveâ„¢ Messenger) friends using your existing Microsoft Passport and your browser (including FireFox)...and absolutely no download is required!

messengerFX is similar in layout and design to Meebo.com but the style, based on the colour scheme, leans towards the Windows Liveâ„¢ Messenger look and feel and the key points of success for this amazing web based messenger is that it's fast, easy to use and best of all messengerFX is super reliable regarding network connection.
Once signed in, your main messengerFX provides you with many of the features you would find if you logged into Microsofts official messenger client. You have full control over your availability and online status from the drop down menu to the right of your display image and you can add / remove, block / unblock friends either manually or from the friends list (simply click on the friends name to expand the options). Changing your name is easy, just click your current name text to the far right of your display image, and you can even change your display image directly from messengerFX, simply click on the default display image in the main messengerFX window then navigate to the graphic file you wish to use.

To start and IM session with one of your friends, simply double click their name on your friends list (or click once and select Message from the menu that appears. The instant message session window provides you with basic IM features (webcam, voice, winks, nudge etc are not supported) and it also lets you add a little bit of your own personality as it supports the users default (or custom) display picture. What's also great is that messengerFX uses Microsofts default emoticons (and the supported key combinations) so this takes the guess work right out of who is using which smiley to express or emphasize their conversation.. something that confuses me greatly in some of the other web based or multi instant messengers that are around.

If your friends are using the default Windows Liveâ„¢ Messenger program they will be notified you are using messengerFX via the Auto Message "I'm using a Web Messenger http://www.messengerFX.com" which is instantly generated during the first IM sent, and if you haven't changed your default display image they will see the default messengerFX logo as your avatar.

Overall, despite not having voice and webcam, messengerFX is well worth checking out.... you can easily tell a lot of thought, time and effort has gone into creating this awesome little web messenger so if you're an MSN Messenger or Windows Live Messenger user and you're looking for an alternate way to connect... then check this one out :)
